Bubble Burster...

Do we all realize that we have about 350 goal-lbs to go in about 140 days? That's almost 2.5lbs a day, or about 17lbs a week! Not that we can't do it if everyone hits their personal goals (and I am hoping some of you have just been holding back on the reporting), but I just wanted to remind us all that the clock is still ticking.... Only 4 1/2 months left! (I'm still behind myself so I better get cracking!)

Jazz it up!

I know I said there were not any Saturday night party's to ruin this week's weigh-in but...
Moriah actually was able to go to the Jazz BBall game with her junior Jazz team and I went with her. We had a blast. Of course, how can you enjoy a Basketball game without hotdogs and snack food. Luckily, my weigh-in shows I am still maintaining so that is at least something. Hopefully next week I will stop the plateau phase and start moving down again.

All for not...

So I have been doing pretty well this week maintaining last wk's weight loss and even thought I had shaved off another pound or two. However, it was all for not as we had our Feb birthday/Valentine's party yesterday with all the "Utah -Click" plus Mom and Dad. Let's just say I had one or two too many slices of pizza and way too much cake to weigh in this week! We'll see what next week brings! There are no Saturday night party's that I am aware of...but you never know! ;)

Going the right direction...finally

So after a week of trying to resist all the late night "Rachel-Snacks", I have dropped 3lbs.
Hopefully the other 5lbs come off as quick so I can get back to were I was!

Right there with ya...almost

I hear ya Tyler! Over the holidays I did manage to gain some of the lbs back but then something even more devastating happened! Rachel moved in. While, like the holidays, it is fun and exciting to have her here, it is also filled with lots of treats that I really shouldn't eat! Let's just say Rachel has a sweet tooth and has a late-night eating habit. Unfortunately I no longer have her level of metabolism!
So, to make a long excuse shorter...I have gained ALL my previous weight back and get to start over as well! Hopefully since it came back on fast (and Rachel has decided so many late night snacks probably are not wise) I should be able to get back on track! (Currently I am resisting her caramel popcorn she just made...I love caramel!)
Here's to hoping!

New Beginning

Yes Jackee, I know it's been quiet here on the WWL blog. Catherine hasn't been posting a whole lot during her treatments, and I'm just a bad blogger. However, I am hoping to start losing some weight again. For the record I started this little thing at about 302 lbs, and got down to 295 lbs fairly quickly. But when Catherine left me in Oklahoma (rude), I put on a few. After having dropped a few since being in California (from just not eating out 2 meals a day and the other meal usually being a frozen pizza), I am still at the highest weight I've ever known for sure (I wasn't really weighing myself when I put on all the weight). Now, at a whopping 313 lbs., I feel like I need to get back on the waggon. Catherine and I worked out Monday and Tuesday this week, and hopefully will continue doing so after we leave California. It felt good to work up a sweat. Now I just need to work on the eating habits. Hmmm... I guess I'll go put the cookies I baked away for the night. I'll try not to bake tomorrow! ;-)

Helloooooooo...Echo Echo Echo

Where is everybody? If this keeps up, I may have to post weekly. For the month of January I am down 4.5 lbs. I think the treadmill does help, Catherine. I hope it works for you, too. According to Weight Watchers today, I lost three this week. I don't get it, though, sometimes I weigh more there than my scale and sometimes I weigh less. Anyway, for the WWL, I am using my own scale and according to it, I lost 2 this last week.

Its a new day!

I start tomorrow.. with a new weight in tomorrow morning. I just weighed myself and I am a lot lower than where I was 2 weeks ago and according to Tyler at my last chemo treatment (2 weeks ago) I was heavier then where I started in Bear Lake, so tomorrow (can I say that enough) I will weigh in and start a new. Look out the competition is starting again!!! As for tonight I am limiting myself to one brownie... I feel like I am on the biggest loser!... Thank goodness for the needed motivation.

WOOHOO!

Tammy won't be in the running for biggest loser for long!... and she has a good reason!!! Yeah TAMMY!

Tammy's Done

At a total of 17lbs lost, Tammy is done with her weightloss for the rest of the challenge.
If you can't guess why then visit our family blog to find out.
Mark however is still in the race and is excited to have the "sympathy weight" excuse now!

Holimonth...and Some Firsts

OK, not quite a holimonth, but definitely a holitwoweeks (nice new word, huh?). It started out alright being down 2.5 lbs., then two weeks of homemade sweets and wonderful meals put me up 8 lbs. (yeah, 8, I know that's bad, however, I heard the average holiday gain is around 15). Then a good 1.5 weeks and I lost 6.5, so at least I get to report a loss of 1 for the month, putting me at 18. Just think if I could've had more will power and avoided all that homemade fudge and toffee. Oh, well, maybe I'll try harder next year. Then again, I doubt it, I thoroughly enjoy my holiday treats.

On a better note, I have a few firsts to report, maybe just to boost my own spirits. This is the first time I have ever lost more than 20 lbs.(31)in one diet. (I'm now counting from last January, not the Wardle challenge). Second, it is the first time that I have dieted and kept it off (or at least got it off again quickly) instead of gaining my loss back plus 5 or 10 more. It is also the first time I have kept at a diet for a whole year instead of a month or two. I have a long way to go, but hopefully I can stick to it and be where I need to be in a couple of years.

Troy also enjoyed the holiday sweets and delicious meals. He says he tipped the scales at a whopping 240, a personal high. However, it came back off quickly and he is back to 235. Because he hasn't been good at reporting and he started at 236, that is actually a gain, putting him at only one pound down. He said he would like to share a scripture with you. It's 1 Timothy 4:8 which states, " For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things."

Its a New Year!

... and no one has posted any weight loss yet?!? Well I will post next week, this week I know I gained and haven't wanted to see how much.. With Chemo coming to and end this week, weight loss should be a bit easier (hopefully?)... how about the rest of you? any weight loss to tell?

Christmas Miracles

Somehow, Tammy was able to lose one more pound bringing her down to a total of 17 lbs so far...way to go baby!
Mark's miracle was that Santa brought him a You-Don't-Have-To-Report-This-Week card which I am using this week for one reason or another! Ho Ho HO!

Avoid the Holiday Horror: Winter Weight-gain...

Here is a tiny article from my work's newsletter about holiday eating:

Here come the holidays! Most of us just “give up” paying attention to what we eat during this special time of year. There are so many foods we label as “bad” but we still really enjoy them. Let the holidays be stress free as you follow some simple tips:

• Focus on weight maintenance rather than weight loss during the holidays. Don’t make unrealistic goals that will set you up for failure.
• Begin a healthy eating plan now and make the holidays a part of the plan. Anticipating food restriction will increase the likelihood of binge eating. It’s common to think: “If I can’t eat this when I start my diet, I might as well eat as much as I can now!”
• Be physically active every day, even if you just take a walk around the block.
• Eat a healthy snack before going to a holiday party or bring the veggie tray with you. If you go to a party starving, you are more likely to choose high-fat, high-calorie foods, as well as overeat.
• Reduce the fat in holiday recipes. Cheesy, creamy dishes tend to have high amounts of fat.
There are several healthy substitutes that can be used when cooking. Below are some healthy
substitution tips.
• Maintain perspective. Over- eating during one meal will not break your eating plan. If you over-indulge during a holiday meal, put it behind you. Remember it’s a holiDAY not a holiWEEK or holiMONTH. Anticipate the extra calories and adjust your meals accordingly.

Ingredient Substitute
Sour cream - low fat plain yogurt or low fat sour cream
Whole milk - skim or 1 % milk
Whipped cream - low fat whipped products like Cool Whip
Butter - oil, apple sauce, prune puree (in baked goods)

A little colder in Utah...

That's right, this week I have a little less insulation. I thankfully lost 3 of the 4 "Thanksgiving" lbs this week. Just one more pound it'll be like that car-ride junk food and thanksgiving turkey never even existed!
Tammy did the official weigh in as well and has been maintaining the 15lb weight loss despite the Thanksgiving/Vacation. She is probably the only reason I am doing as well as I am. I always want to make a snack or some hot chocolate and she says, "sounds great, but I'll pass", and it's just too hard to make a snack for just myself!

So...

I gained... three pounds! apparently when the only thing you want to eat is pizza rolls, you gain. I will make a mental note of that for next week.... eek!

November Update

Troy thinks he has maintained. I personally don't think he gets on the scale much. As for me, I'm slowly trying to get back on track after two rollercoaster months. I lost 3.5 this month which puts my total now at 17. I would love to lose some in December but....well I guess we'll see.....October didn't work out so well and December is typically worse for me. This week we have a neighbor Christmas party, a Relief Society Christmas party, and our Christmas Cookie Party. It's a good thing I post monthly because I doubt next week will look very good. Hopefully I can stay on track. Any good advice?
