Totals this week...

Tyler and Cat wanted us to put on their totals for the week as they do not have internet access:
Tyler - 2more pounds for a total of 6!
Cat - 0...way to maintain!
Tammy - 0...way to maintain!
Mark...um...I decided not to weigh myself today as I was in the ER all weekend (crazy busy) and while there is not much to eat in terms of food, there is plenty in the way of snacks! I had a heath bar, a pack of M&M's, a strawberry shake, a bishop's shake (a local favorite here: icecream with strawberry, peach, bananna, and nuts all blended to perfection at a mere 1500 calories!). What can I say, sometimes I need a sugar buzz to help me be pleasant when a patient comes in at 2am for a mosquito bite! I have been suggesting Saunya's "After-bite"- thanks Saunya!

Get rid of the GARBAGE DISPOSAL!

I am sure you have all heard the term "Garbage Disposal" as it applies to eating...it usually is the father (as it is in my case). It refers to the person who, after everyone else is done eating, feels the need to "clean up" all of their left-overs, "finish off" that last piece of pizza, and scrape the jello bowel! Well, it is time to dispose of the disposal! (By the way - that does not mean get rid of the person!)
I was eating pizza for lunch today (I know...not exactly the kind of food you choose if you are trying to loss weight...but I know I am going to eat it occasionally so I might as well learn to eat it in moderation now rather than diet, lose weight, and then gain it all back when I start eating normal stuff again!). Anyway, after I had my predetermined 2 slices and drank my full glass of water, I was about to grab Kayley's crust (she always leaves the crust...and I like it!) and I had this epiphany...I don't have to be the family's garbage disposal.
I realize that there are starving children in Africa and all that but me eating Kayley's crust really isn't going to help that situation, and passing it by certain may help me control my calorie intake! I know, it sounds like one of those epiphanies that someone has and then feels the need to share in testimony meeting for some reason, but none the less I stopped myself and left her crust behind me (and I am not planning on working this into a Sunday school lesson or anything).
I am hoping if I can control my disposal habits, it will shave several hundred calories off my daily diet.
Disconnect your disposal and good luck!

The Fad-diet Diet Site

http://thefaddist.com
It is a site this guy set up when he was 300lbs about trying all of the "Fad-Diets"...at least the first few weeks/days, of them and then he reports on them.
***CAUTION*** he is at times a bit crude, but mostly he is just sarcasticlly funny.
He, like I, is under the premise that staying active and limiting calories is the secret to most, if not all these diets. He states it over and over as he bashes these diets for their lack of scientific evidence and their pyschological motivation strategies, but he does loss weight on them and he tells it like it is when he is doing the diet. It's a fun way to check out a popular diet and see how it worked on this guy!
...Just don't get offended!

3 lbs baby!

So I am 3 lbs down from my original weight (that is even more amazing since I actually gained last week...opps). It has been hard to exercise when I am not home for the majority of the week but Tammy has been good about making sure i don't eat late at night (that is where I am the weakest!). :)

Week 1 in Idaho

After the first week, Tyler has lost 4 pounds, and Catherine has lost 1 pound. We didn't really exercise much this week, but we tried not to eat after 8pm and we cut out our desserts to Sunday and Monday night. Our little trip to Washington didn't help so much though. Cat's parents fed us really well and we ate a lot of fast food on the road there and back. Oh well, we're still happy with what we got for the 1st week. As long as the number is going down! LOL.
